Andalucía

Main grapes: Zalema, Palomino Fino, Listán de Huelva, Garrido Fino, Moscatel de Alejandría and Pedro Ximénez.

Sub-regions: Jerez, Seville, Cadiz, Malaga, Condado de Huevla, Manzanilla de Sanlucar, Montilla-Moriles

Climate: Generally speaking, it is a Mediterranean climate here. Andalucia is on the receiving end of some serious heat though, and this region often sees drought in the summer months.

You should know... Jerez wines have really put Andalucia on the map of the World of Wine. These wines, otherwise known as Sherry are mainly produced in Cadiz and Seville and is thought to be one of the oldest types of wine in the world with its roots dating back to the Phoenician civilisation. It should also be noted that there are 7 different sherries, 5 which are dry (Fino, Manzanilla, Amontillado, Oloroso and Palo cortado) and 2 which are sweet (Pedro Ximénez and Moscatel).
