Spain

Thankfully for the Spanish grape population (and airline pilots everywhere) My Fair Lady was spouting a load of twaddle with ramblings about the rain in Spain staying mainly on the plane – I mean honestly, give it a rest Henry. Spain manages to fall into 3 different climactic zones, and across the board rainfall is in fact high – without a plane in sight.
Wine styles here vary from the traditional oaked reds we all know and love (my love affair with Rioja doesn't look like it’ll be coming to an end any time soon), to some fresh and fruity whites (less my thing, but certainly not to be sniffed at). Though international grape varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay are planted, indigenous varieties such as Tempranillo and Garnacha Tinta are becoming increasingly popular so many of the best wines here are Spanish through and through.
