Sussex

Main grapes: Bacchus, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier

Climate: Believed by many to be one England’s sunniest regions – no small feat – it tends to receive a little less of England’s more than ample share of annual rainfall. Generally speaking though, the climate here is undeniably cool.

You should know... Sussex shares the same soil type as Champagne, and it is this limestone chalk that enables the region to produce such high quality sparkling wine. Sussex wines are often said to mirror this soil in their style, as they tend to take on strong mineral qualities.
