Campania

Main grapes: WHITE: Fiano, Greco, RED: Aglianico

Sub-regions: Fiano di Avellino, Greco di Tufo, Taurasi

Climate: Hot and dry, sadly not all grapes like sunbathing as much as I do, so careful vineyard management is needed to prevent sunburn (yeah, seriously).

You should know... Home to more DOCGs (code for ‘I’m-kind-of-a-big-deal’ regions) than any other Italian region, it’s all happening down in the South (for once). Fiano grapes produce apricot-y, peachy wines that often have a touch of melon and mango to help them along the way too. Though relatively similar in flavour, Greco wines are a touch more subtle, with a more slim-lined body. The earthy Aglianico wines are also very popular here, particularly in Taurasi so if you see the words ‘forest floor’ and think ‘I’d love to smell that in a bottle’ this is definitely for you…(yum).
