Kent
Main grapes: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Bacchus and Ortega
Climate: Relatively warm when compared to the rest of England, but it’s still far from tropical. Many of the most successful vineyards here are Southern facing, so they maximize the hours of sunlight they receive every day.
You should know... In 2015 Tattinger announced that they bought land in Kent and intended to plant Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier – making them the first of the Champagne houses to jump on the English band wagon. With over 50 vineyards now in production, it’s no wonder that Kent has been labeled the‘Garden of England’.
