The South Coast

Main grapes: Zinfandel, Sangiovese, Carignan, Syrah

Sub-regions: Cucamonga Valley, Malibu-Newton Canyon, San Pasquel Valley, Temecula Valley

Climate: Famous for blue skies and sun for days, it goes without saying the South Coast California is not short of heat. However, thanks to it’s proximity to the coast, many of the vineyards here enjoy the benefits of the moderating influence of the Pacific Ocean.

You should know... One of San Diego’s vineyard grows their Cabernet Sauvignon at 1,300 meters above sea level - the highest vineyard elevation in all of California.
