Trentino-Alto Adige

Main grapes: WHITE: Pinot Grigio, Gewurztraminer, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, RED: Schiava, Merlot, Teroldego

Sub-regions: Alto Adige and Trentino (clue’s in the name)

Climate: Nestled in the foothills of the alps, altitude plays a big part in this area (the combination of skiing and wine also a possibility so take note). Even so, it’s still under the ‘moderate’ label so summers are dry and the growing season long – perfect for aromatic whites and fruity, light reds.

You should know...
With the mountains and Lake Garda giving vineyards their fair share of cool air, this region can produce crisp white wines with high acidity and packed full of both citrus and stone fruit flavours. The reds are also impacted, tending to be lighter in body with a red fruit vibe going on.
