Though true that wine seemingly has its own language, you’d be wrong to assume that it has its own country too. If vines were people, they’d likely be nomads – settling wherever the grass looks greener. Spread across 6 of the world’s 7 continents, you could say that world domination is almost complete…though admittedly the likelihood of vines conquering Antarctica is zero to none.
Geography has never really been in my skill set (maps and I still aren’t on speaking terms after DofE in 2013), but even I can manage to distinguish between the Northern and Southern hemispheres…which is really all you need. Geographical location has a big impact on how the grapes grow and consequently how they taste, so it’s an important factor to take into consideration when you’re sorting out your vino shopping.
